Junior Sailing: About JST
Current Location: St Mawes SC > Sailing > Juniors

The sailing club's Junior Sail Training section runs courses each year for sailors between the ages of 8 and 16 using our fleet of Oppie and Pico sailing dinghies.

RYA Training Centre Status
RYA Training Centre Tickmark Logo Our recognition as a RYA Training Centre means we're inspected annually to ensure that we maintain high standards of tuition, equipment and safety. Sailors are taught by qualified RYA Dinghy Instructors to the standards required by the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. Our centre principle is Tim Whitaker and full details of RYA recognition can be found on the RYA website.

Our Equipmentoppiesmall
JST courses use the club's fleet of 6 Laser Pico dinghies and 6 Oppie dinghies for younger sailors. New for 2009 were 3 Fevas for more advanced training. The club's fleet of four powerboats is also used to provide safety cover. The sailing club quay also houses equipment for shorebased teaching.

TEAM FEVA
In 2009, the Club purchased 3 RS Feva's to introduce more advanced training for our sailors who have completed their RYA Level 4 in the 11-16 age group. The Team were trained by various RYA Race Coaches, hosted an Open Meeting, organised by Roseland Paddle and Sail, and attended various regattas, including the RYA 'Feva Frenzy' at Stithians Lake.
